Setting a Static LAN IP Address on your Linksys Wireless-G WVC54GC Camera

Step 1) It's important that if you plan on accessing your Camera remotely you should set a static LAN IP address on the camera. In this example, we have our camera behind a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. The default IP address range on the Linksys Router is 192.168.1.1

In order to set a static IP, we suggest an IP address of 192.168.1.200 or higher. By setting the IP of the camera at 192.168.1.200 or greater, you avoid IP conflicts with DHCP IP ranges and if you ever have a power outage and the camera reboots, your camera will not change IP's.

Note: If you do not have a Linksys router, or your LAN IP range is different from 192.168.1.1, set the camera to a Static IP address according to your network layout.

In order to set the Static IP address, you must log into the camera using your browser, or using the Setup Wizard that came with the camera. Below we show how to set the IP using your browser.

Step 2) Log into the camera by going to http://IPAddress (where IP Address is the IP address of your camera) and then clicking on the SETUP link as shown circled below. In this case, we connected to http://192.168.1.200

Step 3) You will be prompted for your username and password as shown in the screenshot below. (The default username is admin and password is admin)

Step 4) You will be presented with the Main Login screen as shown below. Scroll down until you come to LAN settings as shown circled below:

Step 5) You should change the IP Address and DNS information as shown below. This is where you set the IP Address. Set the IP address to 192.168.1.200 (pending this IP is not already used on your network and your router IP is 192.168.1.1)

IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.200
Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS should be set to 192.168.1.1

Step 6) Click the APPLY Button and you can then log back into your Camera after a minute or so using the IP address of 192.168.1.200

** If you have trouble reaching your camera, please double check the IP Address you set and make sure that your network is setup with the same network range. If you cannot gain access to your camera please run the camera Setup Wizard to gain access to your camera again and set the IP address accordingly.
