Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Camera
WVC80N is a great way to keep an eye on your home, office or maybe your backyard pool from any web browser, at home or over the Internet.
When viewing over the Internet, it's best to have a domain name for your camera since it's easier to remember than an IP Address. Your camera comes with 90 days of the TZO Dynamic DNS service FREE. This service not only gives you a domain name, but also tracks your IP address and if it changes, TZO keeps it updated with your domain name.
This tutorial will show you how to use the setup wizard with the Linksys camera to signup with your free trial of the TZO Dynamic DNS service and if needed, how to configure your Linksys Camera and Linksys router to gain remote access and viewing to your Linksys camera.
*** Important: This tutorial assumes you have NOT setup the camera yet and have the CD ready. If you have already gone through the setup of the camera, you can simply run it again but may have different results than the images shown***
Step 1) Insert the Linksys Wireless-N Home Monitoring Camera Setup CD
and run the setup wizard by clicking START SETUP as shown in the screenshot below. Click through the wizard, agree to the license agreement and the wizard will then search for your camera(s) on your network.
Step 2) The Camera setup wizard will automatically discover your camera and will prompt you to setup a username and password as shown below. If you have already setup your camera, it will ask you for a username and password to administer the camera.
Step 3) The Wizard will then ask for the camera friendly name, configure the camera and then transfer the camera to a wireless connection. Once all of this is done, you will then be prompted for the router username and password as shown below. This is the password you set when you installed your router. Enter in the router username and password and click next.
Step 4) Once the router username and password is verified, the wizard will prompt you for enabling remote viewing powered by TZO. By signing up with TZO, you get 90 days of the TZO Dynamic DNS service free. TZO DDNS provides you with your own domain name such as MyName.MyLinksysCam.com. This domain name makes connecting back to view your camera quick and easy. If you want to setup the camera so you can remotely view from your PC or Cell phone, click NEXT to setup the TZO Free Trial
Step 5) The wizard will now communicate with your router and perform a few tests to make sure the router can be accessed.
Step 6) In order to signup with your free TZO DDNS trial, you must enter in an email address and a domain name selection. The email address will only be used to send you an expiration notice reminder before your trial expires.
As shown below, we entered in our email address and selected "MYNAME" as our name, so in the end we can use www.MyName.MyLinksysCam.com to connect back to my camera from anywhere. Once you enter in your email address and domain name, click the NEXT button to register the name.
STEP 7) The wizard will now register the TZO domain name and then configure your camera and router to setup remote viewing. This is an automatic process that will detect a static LAN IP for the camera, open the proper ports in the router as well as detect any possible issues that may cause remote viewing to fail. Please be patient and wait for the configuration to finish.
STEP 8) When the wizard completes the camera and router configuration it will display a screen as shown below. This screen shows you the domain name you can use to connect to your camera.
Using your domain name to view the camera: If you have ONE camera, use the domain name as shown to connect to your camera. ALWAYS use the www as part of the domain name since this invokes the TZO Web forwarding to properly reach your camera.
If you have more than one camera the domain name with "www" will always go to camera #1. Depending on the options selected for additional cameras you may have to drop the "www" and append the additional camera port. Please refer to the domain name shown in the wizard when you add additional camera's.
This domain name provided by TZO is free for 90 days for your use. Just before the 90 days is up, TZO will send you and email with information to continue your service with TZO. If you choose not to continue, there is nothing you need to do, the service will expire and your domain name will no longer work.

When ordering, use the domain name and the same email address you used when signing up.
Now that you have enabled the TZO DDNS there is nothing else you need to do except use your domain name when you are away from the home or office and want to connect back to your camera(s) to view your live video or video snapshots. The TZO DDNS is now enabled in your camera and TZO will continually poll your network every 15 minutes and track the IP address of your router. Once the IP Address changes, the TZO DDNS will update your domain name with the new IP address. If you wish to reduce the default "Update Period" and check for WAN IP changes less frequently, you can reduce the interval to your liking.
** Note: Keep in mind that if you set this too high, your IP address may change and the device may not catch the IP address change until it reaches that time interval. The default setting of 15 minutes is recommended. **
Having Trouble Getting your Camera configured?
If you are having trouble getting TZO setup in your camera it could be that your network is not properly setup for remote access. If this is the case, the CD Wizard will fail and not allow you to setup remote access. To prepare your network there are a few things you can do before you try again:
1) Enable UPnP in your router. In some routers, UPnP may need to be enabled.
2) If you use a Vonage or VOIP router, make sure you read the Double-NAT FAQ
3) If you use DSL,

After checking all of these, reboot your router and computer and try again
If you continue to have difficulty you can contact your ISP and find out if there is port blocking at the ISP level. If all else fails you can try forwarding port 80 and port 1024 to your camera as shown in the Linksys WVC54GCA tutorial. This explains logging into your router and forwarding the ports yourself for remote viewing. Although this camera is an older model, the interface and steps to forward ports are almost identical. Be sure to set your camera to a Static IP on your LAN and also enable alternate viewing option and set it to port 1024 as shown in the tutorial.
