Quick
Start to using TZO with your Nexland
Router
|
| |
This
is a quick guide to using the TZO Service capability
within your Nexland router. This describes how to set
up a TZO account and use the Dynamic DNS services
from TZO within the router. |
| |
|
| |
The
Nexland router should have the TZO capability if your
router has a firmware newer than August 1, 2001. If
your Nexland router has the new firmware, You should
see a TZO option under the Dynamic DNS tab within
your router administration area. If you do not see
the TZO capability within your router, please see the
Nexland website below for more information. You can
visit the Nexland website at www.nexland.com |
| |
|
| |
You
should first enter the Administration screen of your
router, and once you validate the username and
password of the router administration, click on the
Dynamic DNS tab. |
| |
|
| |
You
will see the screenshot below: |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
In
order to enable the Dynamic DNS, you first need to
Enable the settings under BASIC SETTINGS. |
| |
|
| |
1) Click on the TZO radio button
to enable the TZO functionality |
| |
|
| |
2) Select the WAN port that you
wish to use for the Dynamic DNS update. This will
post THIS WAN IP address into the DNS
records. |
| |
|
| |
3a) If you already have a TZO
Account, you can put in your TZO Key, Email and
Domain information into the interface shown above,
and click the SAVE button at the bottom of the screen
(Not shown in the screenshot) |
| |
|
| |
3b) If you do not have a TZO
account, you can sign up for a Free 30 Day Trial,
with no obligations, and no restrictions. Simply
click the "Sign up for a Free Trial" link as shown
circled above, and this will launch your browser to
the TZO Nexland Trial page. You can enter your email
and your domain choice and your key will be sent to
you via email. |
| |
|
| |
4) Once you have entered the TZO
account information, and have clicked the SAVE button
to save your settings, you should click the UPDATE
button under BASIC SETTINGS to make sure your domain
is logged on to the proper address in the TZO Dynamic
DNS servers. You can test this by trying a PING test
at http://Help.TZO.Com - The Ping
should respond back to your IP address. You can also
see your account settings and current IP address in
the TZO Control Panel at https://www.tzo.com |
| |
|
| |
Now
that you have the TZO Dynamic DNS set up in your
Nexland router, you should start using your Domain
name by running a server. You can run almost any type
of server behind the Nexland router. You should start
by clicking on the VIRTUAL SERVERS tab. You will then
see the VIRTUAL SERVERS interface as shown in the
screenshot below: |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
Once
you enter the VIRTUAL SERVERS administration screen,
you should select which servers you want to host. In
this example, we show you how to forward several port
to host a Web Server, FTP, SMTP and POP Server, and a
PPTP or VPN Server. |
| |
|
| |
You
should click the ENABLE checkbox for each service you
wish to host on your servers. You should enter in the
LAN IP ADDRESS for each server you wish to forward
that port to. In this case, our server is an NT 2000
Server, running all the above services. The Windows
2000 server is set to a STATIC IP address of
192.168.0.3 on our internal LAN, so we enter that IP
address since that is our main server IP. |
| |
|
| |
Once
you enable all the services and set the LAN IP
addresses, click the SAVE button and you are ready to
start hosting! Install and configure your servers,
and you are on your way to hosting your own web,
email, ftp, and VPN server on the
Internet! |
| |
|
| |
That's it! You can enable and disable ports as
you add or remove servers. Running your own mail
server, ftp server, and web server can offer you many
benefits, and save you money by doing your own web
hosting. If you have any problems with this tutorial
with the TZO service, please see the TZO FAQ, as part
of the SUPPORT section of this web site. You can also
see the Nexland website for more information on the
Nexland routers. |
