Using TZO with Netmeeting

There's no doubt that we're biased, but we believe that TZO offers a great solution for Netmeeting users. ILS is slow and awkward to use but with TZO you can connect to someone quickly and easily and without having to download the entire user list to get just one name. TZO is an all-around better solution.

In the following instructions we assume here that you have TZO and that it is running.

When you call a TZO user, enter the user's TZO Name instead of the IP Address as we've shown above.  You also can set the CALL USING: to NETWORK TCP/IP   Once you have the TZO Name entered as shown above, you click the CALL button to connect to them directly.  When you call a TZO user you use the TZO Name each time you call even though the IP address has changed. That's one advantage TZO offers.

Here's how you add a TZO user to Netmeeting's SpeedDial. Simply click on the TZO name to dial directly.

After the connection has been made, (either by your calling someone else of someone else calling you) you'll a screen like the one below. This screen shows that someone is sending you video.

After you've added those with whom you want to have a Netmeeting, you'll see a screen like the one below.

Double click on the TZO name of each person to make the connection. TZO looks up each of their current IP address is and sends the Netmeeting call request to their computer. To receive a call using TZO, make sure TZO and Netmeeting is running. Start Netmeeting and wait for your colleague to call you as shown above.  When your colleague wants to call you via Netmeeting, he or she enters your TZO name instead of your IP address.

After you've gotten Netmeeting working, here's how you can optimize its performance.

The first thing is to go to the TOOLS Menu, and then select PREFERENCES.   Once you get to the Preferences Dialog box as shown above, you will be looking at the General Tab as we've shown above.  Let's say, for example, your dog likes to chew your slippers and you've set up a web camera connected to your computer. You want to dial into your computer from time to time and see what your dog is doing. In that case you'd set the option to AUTOMATICALLY ACCEPT INCOMING CALLS as we've done above. You could even yell at your dog and your voice would come from your computer's speakers and no, doubt, completely confuse your dog.

You can also click on the Calling Tab as shown below.  The LOG ON TO THE DIRECTORY SERVER should remain UNCHECKED if you are using TZO names only to connect.  This saves you the time of having to download names from the ILS servers.  This CALLING TAB is also very useful if you want to change the ILS Servers that you connect to.

Netmeeting is relatively easy software to use once you've made all the connections. TZO makes it easy to make the connections
