Using TZO with Internet Anywhere mail server

We assume in these instructions that you have already setup TZO and it is running. Go online and make sure TZO is running. Then run the Internet Anywhere Mail Server Setup package and install the product. Once you've installed the mail server, follow the examples shown below to configure your mail server for your domain(s).

The Internet Anywhere Mail Server is published by True North Software, and is truly a gem when it comes to a simple interface and a rock solid mail server with great features. You can download the True North Internet Anywhere Mail Server at WWW.TNSOFT.COM

The server is also available at Tucows.com, Winfiles.com, and at many other great shareware sites.

The setup wizard has 8 basic screens when setting up the basics of the mail server. We will show you how to install this product and configure it for a domain hosted with TZO. Step 2 (shown below) of the Setup Wizard shows the information you need to set the server up properly. Click OK once you read this dialog box.

The Setup Wizard will eventually ask you for a password, and this is for the ADMINISTRATOR, or the owner of the mail server. This is required when configuring and add users (mailboxes) to the server. Write this password down and DON'T forget it, or forget where you've written it. Click OK once you entered the password twice, written it down, and put it in a safe place.

The setup wizard will ask you for a domain name as shown below. If you have just the STANDARD TZO (TZO Subdomain), enter the name as shown in the example below. This example shows the domain name as "Mailserver.tzo.com", since this is the TZO Domain for which I'm setting up mail. If you ordered a Premier TZO Service, and have a private domain with TZO, you should enter the private domain below like: "Yourname.com", or "Myname.Com", etc. Do not use "www" in front of the domain.

The setup wizard will ask you how you connect to the Internet. Set this properly, and set it as shown below if you have a cable or xDSL modem, or are running this on a LAN. Select the dialup connection if you use a dialup modem to connect to the Internet.

The Setup Wizard will ask you to configure SmartPOP and SMTP KICK Options as shown below.
ONLY SELECT SMTP KICK IF YOU HAVE THE MAIL STORE AND FORWARD SERVICE FROM TZO.COM!
If you do NOT have the Store and Forward service from TZO.COM, skip this step and the next step and go on.

The Setup Wizard will ask you to configure SmartPOP and SMTP KICK Options as shown below.
ONLY SELECT SMTP KICK IF YOU HAVE THE MAIL STORE AND FORWARD SERVICE FROM TZO.COM!
Configure the PORT to the same port that you gave to TZO.COM when you ordered the Store and Forward Service. Make sure you enter the name as "Mail.XXXXXXX.COM, where the XXXXX.COM is your domain name.
It must ALWAYS have the MAIL in front to work in this software

*Please Note: If you do NOT have the Store and Forward service from TZO.COM, skip this step and go on.

The setup wizard will finish, and you will come into the administration screen as shown below. This is the mail server STATUS screen, and is shown in LOGOUT MODE. If you click FILE, LOGIN as shown below, you will be able to log in as the administrator and create mailboxes and users.

Once you log in, click on FILE, NEW and the menu shown below will appear. This allows you access to create new user mailboxes, mailing lists, aliases, forwarding rules, groups, etc.

Once you click on FILE, NEW and select USER MAILBOX, the dialog box shown below will appear. This allows you access to create a new user mailbox. Enter the mailbox ID (username), the name of the person, and the password. You can also select to have this user's mail forwarded to another mail account. Repeat this process for your each of your users. Each mailbox/user you create will get an email address like "User@Domain.com" or "User@Subdomain.tzo.com", etc. depending on the TZO service that you have. You can also create a mailbox as an alias. See the screenshot below, and see the mail documentation for more info on aliases.

Once you create your mailboxes and users, Click on FILE, PROPERTIES using the menu as shown below. The PROPERTIES box allows you access to the basic properties of the Mail Server, so you can set up the DNS and other mailserver settings.

Once you click FILE, PROPERTIES , click on the SEND AND RECEIVE PROPERTIES tab and you will see the two screens shown below. On the menu as shown below,. the SEND AND RECEIVE PROPERTIES box allows you access to the basic properties of the mail server, properties such as connection schedules, and others. Set the connection schedule tab as shown below.

Once you click FILE, PROPERTIES , click on the SERVER menu and you will see the two screens shown below. On the menu as shown below, the SERVER properties box allows you access to the basic properties of the mail server, properties such as DNS, virtual domains, remote admin and more. See the example of multiple domains below

Now click on the PORTS tab, and you will see the screen shown below. Make sure that your PORT 25 SMTP is OPEN and not blocked by your ISP. You can check to see if your port is open by using a free service from http://www.PortDetective.com
Once you verify the Port 25 is open, set the settings as shown below. You should also make sure port 110 is open so you can check your mail via the POP3 Server.

That's it! You can create more users as you need them, and you should be on your way to running your own mail server for your domain. Remember that TZO offers Mail Store and Forwarding and many other unique services. If you are having problems with the Mail Server, please see the TZO FAQ, as part of the SUPPORT section of this web site. Remember that you can also use the Internet Anywhere Mail Server to host MULTIPLE domains, so you can run a mail server for your friends, customers, and clients as well.
