standard
TZO relay (http relay): detailed
description
|
| |
|
|
• |
here's the problem - You have a cable or
DSL connection and a dynamic IP address. You want to
host a web site but your ISP blocks port
80. |
| |
|
|
• |
and the solution - With the TZO Standard
Relay Service you get a sub-domain name like
Yourname.TZO.com. Our service tracks your current IP
address and "resolves" your domain name to your
current IP address. Although port 80 is the standard
port for web requests, with this service you can
receive web requests on any port you choose. When you
choose a different port, however, you have to
configure your web server to receive requests on that
and if you have a router you'll have to open the port
you've choosen on your router as well. |
| |
|
|
• |
the result is - You can run a web server
even though you have a dynamic IP address and your
ISP blocks port 80. |
| |
|
|
• |
how it
works - When you
use this service all web requests for your sub-domain
name come first to one of our "relay servers." The
relay server looks-up the port on which you've chosen
to receive web requests and it forwards the web
request to your web server on the port you've
chosen. |
| |
|
|
• |
there are two operating modes - There are
two modes of operation for the Standard Relay
Service, HTTP Relay Mode and Stealth Relay Mode. In
the HTTP Relay Mode a visitor to your site will see
your entire URL in the browser including the port
number to which the request is forwarded. In the
Stealth Relay Mode the user does not see the
forwarding port number. To hide the port forwarding
information we create a frame at our relay servers in
which to display your web site and therefore your web
site is susceptible to any of the problems that
having frames may cause. This mode also allows the
visitor to bookmark page only your index
page. |
