premier
TZO service: detailed description
|
| |
|
|
• |
here's the
problem -
You have a cable or DSL connection and have a dynamic
IP address. But you want to have a webserver, email
server, FTP server, VPN, or use PC Anywhere,
Netmeeting, or many other applications that usually
require a static IP address. A static IP address is
expensive and often difficult to
get. |
| |
|
|
• |
and the solution
- The
TZO Premier Service service tracks your current IP
address and "resolves" your domain name to your
current IP address. |
| |
|
|
• |
the result is - Others can easily link to
your computer by addressing it by its TZO name rather
than by trying to find its current IP
address. |
| |
|
|
• |
an example - You can have a domain name
like Yourname.com and then have a web server, email
server, any kind of Internet server using that domain
name despite the fact that you have a dynamic IP
address. |
| |
|
|
• |
does not
include domain name registration -
The TZO
Premier service does not include the registration of
the domain name itself. Although we can do that for
you, registering your domain name is not included in
the price of the Premier service. When you renew the
Premier service you must also renew your domain name
registration. |
| |
|
|
• |
some
sub-domains are free -Included in the
Premier service is our unlimited wildcard function.
This function, by default, will resolve
Anything.Yourdomain.com and Everything.Yourdomain.com
to the same address as Yourdomain.com. You do not
need to contact us to create DNS records for them and
you do not have to create DNS records for them
yourself; they resolve to the IP address of your
domain by default. There is no additional charge for
any of these sub-domains. |
| |
|
|
• |
some
sub-domains may cost extra - If you want one
or more sub-domains of your domain and the
sub-domain(s) have a different IP address from your
domain then you need to purchase the TZO Standard
service for each sub-domain. |
| |
|
|
• |
how it
works - First you
download the free TZO client software and install it
on your system. That software reports the current IP
address of your computer to our dynamic DNS servers.
When a web site visitor, for example, wants to visit
your site they enter Yourname.com into the browser.
That information comes to our dynamic DNS servers
which "resolve" the domain name to your current IP
address. Our servers send that information back to
your visitor's browser and the browser uses that
information to connect to your web
site. |
| |
|

TZO works
reliably behind a router- If you have
a LAN which runs behind a router and your Internet
server is on that LAN it's still easy to use the TZO
service. You can run the TZO client on any computer
on that LAN and the client will report the Internet
IP address of the router to our dynamic DNS servers,
rather than the internal LAN IP address of the
computer on which the client is running. Then within
your LAN you would route the requests to your
appropriate server. The TZO service is recommended by
many router companies including Linksys, Nexland,
E-Tech, Multitech, and others. |

Tzolkin must
host your DNS records - If have
registered a domain name with Network Solutions or
another registrar and want to use the TZO service you
must move your DNS records from your domain registrar
to Tzolkin. We cannot do that for you. Here are some
instructions on how to do it. It takes from 24 to 48
hours for the move to be
completed. |
