	New value-add software increases network flexibility for SMC users by facilitating self-hosted Web servers in environments where Internet connectivity relies on dynamic IP addresses

	IRVINE, CA and BOSTON, MA - December 12, 2002 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), the company that takes the work out of networks with high-performance, easy-to-use connectivity products for business and home, and Tzolkin Corporation, provider of the award-winning TZO Dynamic DNS Service(www.tzo.com), today announced that the companies have entered into an agreement by which SMC will integrate the TZO Dynamic DNS client software into its Cable/DSL broadband router products, providing its users with more flexibility in how they configure and host their Web presences. Effectively immediately, SMC will ship products from the Barricade™ family of wired and wireless broadband Cable/DSL routers with TZO Dynamic DNS client software built-in.

	Commonly, small business and home networks are set up with Internet service that uses a pool of IP addresses for Internet connectivity, and thus, most have dynamic IP addresses. Having a dynamic IP address creates a problem when hosting a server, but the TZO service solves that problem. The TZO client embedded in the SMC Barricade broadband router detects when the Web server's IP address changes and automatically updates the Web server's DNS record. This keeps the Web site available for visitors in spite of the fact that its IP address has changed.
