TZO 'C' client (tzoupdate) |
|
| |
|
| |
TZO 'C' client ("tzoupdate") - for most UNIX based platforms -
This new (March 2007) client is called 'tzoupdate v1.0', and is the TZO preferred client for UNIX-like operating systems. This client is a text (command line) based and so it is appropriate for both desktop and server installations.
NOTE: This client is provided as C source-code with basic instructions. To install, this client requires basic to intermediate UNIX skills. A C compiler is needed to build, and your OS's 'cron' documentation needed so you can schedule the updater for every 10 minute execution. Inside the archive, please see README and INSTALL files for additional instruction and help.
This release was tested on Ubuntu Linux 6.06, Fedora Core [3 through 6], Mac OS X 10.2 (PPC)*, Mac OS X 10.4 (Intel)*, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, and CentOS 4.4. Experimental support exists for Windows (via Cygwin). The client is very portable code and should be easy to adapt to any other UNIX or 'embedded' platform. OS X admins should be familiar with the UNIX subsystem (there is no OS X specific installer at this time).
Dependencies: None (only a compiler, and use of 'crontab')
Current release: version 1.00
Release date: March 1, 2007

TZO Perl client v2 |
|
| |
|
| |
The TZO Perl
v2 is the preferred TZO client as it requires no
compilation of code.. just run the text-based wizard
installer to configure. You may install TZO Perl v2
as a system daemon/service, so it automatically
starts during system boot-up.
This client is tested and has full installer support
for Redhat Linux, Apple Mac OS X, Sun Solaris and
FreeBSD. Other versions of Linux and UNIX are also
supported (including versions of Cobolt that TZO does
not have a special package for).
This code is released under the GPL license and may
be modified for additional software platforms.
Experimental (limited) support exists for other UNIX,
Microsoft Windows (ActiveState Perl), MacPerl and
Novell.
Dependencies: Perl 5, and
root/Administrator access
Current release: version 2.15
Release date: October 8, 2003

TZO C client for
GNOME/GTK |
|
| |
|
| |
TZO for GNOME
has a desktop-interface used for initial
configuration and monitoring. Once installed, X11
and/or the TZO user interface are not required - TZO
has a back-end component to do the updates as soon as
the system has a network connection (requires root).
This client builds and runs under KDE also. TZO GNOME
is provided as C sourcecode, with configure and
makefile scripts to install.
Dependencies: Runs as root or a a
regular user account. This client is available as
source-code only, and requires GTK 1.x and GNOME 1.x
development (source) libraries to compile and for the
first-time initialization. TZO has released this
application under the GPL license; it may be possible
to adapt this client to other GNOME platforms. See
README for details.

Other platforms and custom client
development |

TZO
appreciates all operating systems even if we cannot
provide full technical support for them all. Upon
request TZO can provide additional third-party
clients for users willing to assume self-support of
client-side issues.
What this really means is, if you encounter an error
updating TZO using one of these clients (MacOS System
7-9, OS/2 Rexx script, or Java clients), we just need
you to determine if the problem is to do with your
account (it could have expired...) or with the
unsupported client. Our web-based TZO Control Panel
can be used by your OS's web browser to do a test
signon update, so if that works then the problem is
isolated to the client.
For issues related to the unsupported clients, you
should use TZO
Helpdesk. As we cannot provide standard
technical support for these clients, we would suggest
the Windows or Perl clients while we investigate your
problem report.
